   There are. If you were in attendance during the last Batizado, you would have had the honor of meeting Contra-Mestre Marisa and Instructora Bebe - In addition, Marisa has been to a number of our events.

   I will be there! I have met a few capoeiristas from the group and they are very skilled. Sounds like it is going to be fun.

   I did attend the last batizado and the three before that. I have met Contra-Mestra Marisa and I have met Be Be. My point is that there should be a consistent presence of women at our batizados. I will not debate how many women have been present at batizados. However, the previous guest list of who is INVITED rarely lists women. Since I have known and been a part of the group (2005) there have been very few women present or actually invited. The fact that you can only name two and that those are the only two I remember proves my point. There are many women in capoeira but not enough representation of women in higher positions. Although this is not only one persons idea, it is up to the entire group to request more diversity…all the time not sometimes.

   Oh yeah, and I am a part of Grupo Bantu just in case you did not know.

   Ansley, the invite list consists of confirmed Mestres, Mestras, Contra-Mestres, Professors etc…Bundo does not always list everyone that he has invited, but most of the time he only publishes the list once he has a pretty good idea of who is definitely coming. Other higher positions would also include Coral from Abolicao and a few others that I did not list, who have been invited.

   In Mestre’s defense, I know that he invites a number of masters, female and male and reinvites those who have shown their support in the past and have helped to keep the cost of the event to a reasonable price…if you feel as though he purposely neglects female invitations, you may want to discuss that with him on an individual basis.

    YO ANSLEY. IVE BEEN PART OF BANTU CAPOEIRA FOR ALMOST 10YEARS AND HAVE MET ALOT OF MESTRAS BUT AT THIS TIME WE DONT HAVE THE FUNDS TO INVITE EVERYONE WE WANT SO WE INVITE THE PPL WHO CAN COME. NEXT BATIZADO MAKE A LIST OF WHO U WOULD LIKE TO C AT THE EVENT AND WE CAN WORK TOGETHER TO MAKE IT HAPPEN. PEACE

    this is some bull crap many females have been invited they just cant come so whats the big freaking problem like budao said make a list to invite all the females capoeristas that can come and we will work something out but you wanna get personal about males vs females its just childish can we all get along and just play some damn capoeira lmao ps: if you want female mestras to come to our batizado then you train hard and become the first female bantu beira mar capoeira intructora or professora love you………..pocosemfundo damn it lmao…..

    The students from our school will be driving from Pensacola Florida (six hours)
    to attend this years Batizado, could you post specific times for workshops and events for Friday and Saturday. We will be arriving Friday evening, late afternoon.

    Wow, I didn’t know anyone used this :). Ansley, I hear ya girl, it’s complicated. Lots of female capoeristas, not enough in high cords and up. Poco is right, we gotta get up there and change that :). As for the Batizado, we may not have an exact schedule yet but our events are always the same (mostly). We will have opening roda on Thursday night (TNT Gymnastics) and workshops all day on Friday and Saturday at UNF with Batizado on Saturday night. Usually we have rodas on Sunday for those still in town and if the weather permits…BEACH!!
